Vacancy Description:

  • Salary: £12.60 – £14.36 per hour (£24,242 – £27,636 per annum)
  • Hours: Full-Time – 37 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 4:30pm Friday: 7:30am – 12:30pm Overtime or weekend work may be required during peak production periods.

    Overview: We are currently recruiting for an Experienced Sewing Machinist to join a busy textile and garment production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating industrial sewing machinery to assemble garments and textile products to a high standard of quality and efficiency. This role is essential in maintaining consistent production flow and ensuring finished products meet strict quality and design specifications.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Operate industrial sewing machines including straight stitch, overlocker, and merrow machines
  • Assemble garments and textile products in line with production specifications and quality standards
  • Follow standard operating procedures, technical packs, or sample garments to ensure accurate production
  • Carry out high-quality hand stitching where required
  • Inspect materials and finished work to identify any defects or quality issues
  • Perform lay cutting techniques to minimise material waste
  • Carry out basic machine maintenance including threading, cleaning and oiling equipment
  • Report machine faults or technical issues to the maintenance team
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with health and safety regulations
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production targets and deadlines

    Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Sewing Machinist in a textile or garment production environment
  • Experience operating industrial sewing machines
  • Strong understanding of garment construction and stitching techniques
  • Experience working with woven fabrics and textile materials
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control
  • Ability to maintain consistent production output while ensuring accuracy
  • Ability to follow written and verbal production instructions
  • Reliable, organised and able to work effectively within a team

    Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Good manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination
  • Ability to lift and handle rolls of fabric where required
